Handbells Shine: Anniversary Service and Concert This Sunday

What does 60 years of music sound like? Come hear the answer as Christ UMC marks six decades of handbell ministry with a day of ringing, remembrance, and community.

When and Where

  • Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025
  • 9 a.m. Traditions worship service in the sanctuary
  • 2 to 3 p.m. Handbell concert in the sanctuary

Who’s Ringing

Around 25 alumni ringers will return to the tables and stands, joining CUMC’s Jubilee, Progressions, and Celebration bell choirs. Expect the warm shimmer of bronze, precise teamwork, and the energy that only live ensemble ringing can deliver.

Program Highlights

The celebration features the premiere of a commissioned work by composer Brian Childers: “I’m Gonna Ring When the Spirit Says Ring.” Written in gratitude for the hundreds who have sustained this ministry, the piece debuts during the 9 a.m. service and sets the tone for the afternoon concert.

Why It Matters

For 60 years, handbells at Christ UMC have fostered friendship, musicianship, and worship. This anniversary isn’t just a look back; it’s a live, resonant reminder of how shared sound can knit a community together.
